US 2008 Crisis Eruption

After reading many articles about the 2008 financial/social crisis, I have few questions I would like to explore:
  1. What makes this crises different from the Great Depression and what are the possible consequences of those differences?
  2. Peoples opinions captured in new's blogs have been very active in ascribing personal/institutional responsibility/accountability - basically "blaming"- for the crisis in multiple layers...what we can learn from people's assessments?
  3. There are many voices saying we are facing the end of an era...what is what the new era is opening?
